Karen Lin ’95
Lin earned her J.D. from Brooklyn Law School in 1995 and went on to build a career within New York’s Unified Court System spanning more than two decades. In 2026 Lin became the first Asian American woman appointed to the Appellate Term of the New York State Supreme Court, Second Department. Lin began her career as a litigation associate at Lansner & Kubitschek and later served as chief of staff and district counsel to State Senator Catherine Abate before entering public service. Lin held a series of roles within the court system, including principal law clerk and court attorney-referee in Kings County Surrogate’s Court, before being elected to the New York City Civil Court in Queens in 2022. She was elected to the Queens County Supreme Court in 2024, where she presided over a range of civil matters.
