I. Leo Glasser ’48 (b. 1924)

Glasser served as dean of the law school from 1977 to 1981 before his appointment to the federal bench. A World War II veteran, he was nominated by President Ronald Reagan to the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York in 1981 and later became Senior Judge in 1993, presiding over major organized-crime and corruption cases, including those involving John Gotti and the Colombo crime family. Admired for his precision in jury instructions and his insistence on judicial fairness, Glasser has been recognized by Brooklyn Law School as one of its most distinguished alumni, marking his 100th birthday in 2024.
