Beatrice M. Judge ’20 (1896–1998)

Beatrice M. Judge graduated from Brooklyn Law School in 1920 and went on to become a pioneering jurist in New York’s courts. In 1964, she became the first woman elected to the Civil Court of Kings County, and in 1966, the first woman elected to the New York State Supreme Court’s Second Judicial District, encompassing Brooklyn and Staten Island. Known affectionately in alumni news as “Judge Judge,” she served with distinction through three decades marked by rapid demographic and legal change. Judge died in 1998 at the age of 102.
