Helen P. McCormick ’12 (1884–1957)
McCormick, a teacher-turned-lawyer, broke new ground in 1917 when appointed Deputy Assistant District Attorney in Kings County, the first woman to hold that office. The New York Times noted she would prosecute “women’s cases.” A former educator of children with disabilities and active suffragist, she linked social reform to professional advancement for women in law.
