Description

Robert “Rosie” Rosenthal ’41 (1917–2007)

Rosenthal, who graduated from Brooklyn Law School in 1941, became one of the most decorated American bomber pilots of World War II. Serving with the Eighth Air Force’s 100th Bomb Group, he flew fifty-two missions over Germany, survived two shoot-downs, and earned the Distinguished Service Cross, two Silver Stars, and multiple Distinguished Flying Crosses. After the war, he joined the U.S. prosecution team at the Nuremberg Trials, interrogating senior Nazi leaders before returning to private practice in New York. His wartime heroism was dramatized in Steven Spielberg’s Masters of the Air (2024), and Brooklyn Law School honored his legacy in a public program tied to the series.
